Yarabilba

Overview

The Yarabilba Residential Development is a 2,012 hectare property marked as a Priority Development Area by the Queensland State Government. Much of the land was previously managed for pine harvesting operations and was subject to uncontrolled wildfire. Fortunately, some high priority habitat corridors sustained these impacts and have formed the network of linkages for nature conservation on-site and adjoining land holdings. Bushcare Services are working on a variety of initiatives to enhance these natural areas through weed control, planting natives, consolidating natural drainage, propagating rare and threatened local species and work on local community initiatives.

We have since discovered that despite a rough history, the regeneration potential of the retained bushland on this site is highly robust and resilient, enabling us to achieve many of our biodiversity and density models by assisted regeneration.
